Charlie Cash “DO YA” Single Review

Written and Interviewed by: Camden Meyers

Charlie Cash is known for her relentless passion. Sometimes that passion manifests itself in her love for travel, sometimes in her pursuit of self-expression through music and sometimes in eating ten tacos in one sitting at Taco Chukis…and she said we could test her on that one. On a serious her dedication to the craft of music began at a young age when, as is common with talented singers, she was a member of her church choir. Having grown up in this environment she began writing her own music early on and now, at age 23, she has released her first single “DO YA” which is available on all major streaming platforms as of Monday 9/10/18. According to Charlie, it took her a mere 2 hours to write the song after she was inspired through the contemplation of some current and past relationships in her life. With an upbeat pop/soul sound, “DO YA” lyrically documents the feelings one experiences while reminiscing on past relationships. Some of these feelings are joyous and can be remembered fondly, while others are painful and remind us of the consequences of our decisions. It’s hard to imagine a song so deep can have such an airy, positive vibe to it, but it does. Produced by local engineer Perrin Wasson and paired with the edgy cover art shot by local photographer Abdi Ibrahim this single packs a punch and is truly a pleasure for all listeners. As it stands, “DO YA” is the only taste of Charlie’s music available however with an untitled 6 song EP releasing sometime this fall, everyone who likes this single is in for much, much more! Charlie told us that her EP is not only a versatile introduction to who she is as an artist but also a danceable “shake your ass” collection of tracks sure to get you moving in the car, at a kickback or anywhere! Honeslty, we can’t wait!
